We conduct several initiatives to empower farmers.
Matix is more than a crop nutrient provider. We feel a deep connection with farmers and seek to foster higher agricultural productivity.
Through a series of sessions and initiatives, we train them to implement farm innovations, exceed yield expectations and, in turn, help transform their lives.
Farmer training programmes are vital, empowering famers with the right information backed by science and, in return, we learn how our product portfolio can better assist them.

We encouraged soil testing and collected samples as well as provided guidance to farmers on balanced fertiliser application to ensure nutrient adequacy while preventing soil degradation.

The Government of India has introduced the ‘Pradhan Mantri Krishi Samriddhi Kendra’ (PMKSK) programme, which aims to convert retail fertiliser shops into one superstore, offering fertiliser, seed, crop protection products and farm equipment.
Matix has supported 4500+ PMKSK centers across the regions in which we operate.
We were privileged to have our Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, inaugurate two of our PMKSK centres in Bihar Sharif and Galsi, in the states of Bihar and West Bengal respectively.
We initiated a scientific programme to help farmers understand their soil requirements. Our fully-equipped Mobile Soil Testing Van (MSTV) replete with state-of-the-art testing equipment visits multiple villages, encouraging farmers to evaluate soil on multiple parameters.
Commencing in Assam, our MSTV has reached villages in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Odisha and Jharkhand. The well-equipped laboratory within the MSTV analyses soil samples, generates a comprehensive soil health report card and offers insights. Matix experts guide farmers by unearthing insights and offering solutions to maintain soil fertility and improve productivity.
Soil samples analysed
We conduct soil pH testing to measure the hydrogen or hydroxyl ion activity in the soil solution which indicates soil acidity, neutrality, or alkalinity. This test controls nutrient availability, microbial activity and the soil’s physical condition.
We conduct electrical conductivity (EC) testing to assess the soil solution’s salt content using a conductivity meter. This test identifies if soil salt ions restrict crop growth as extreme soil EC levels can impede crop growth.
We test phosphorus levels using a colorimeter to determine the phosphorus available in the soil. A colorimeter is also used with a spectrophotometer to determine whether large amounts of the element are present.
We conduct the testing of soil organic carbon which is a measurable component of soil organic matter. Elevated organic carbon levels are crucial for soil health, fertility and erosion control in agriculture. They enhance nitrogen retention, microbial diversity and nutrient transfer to plants, boosting growth and yields.
We conduct a test for soil available potassium (K) as plants can amass it in large quantities without toxicity. Potassium boosts root growth, drought resistance and aids water and nutrient transportation while its deficiency leads to slow growth and plant lodging.
The MSTV is equipped with a full power backup, including a mobile generator power and internet connectivity, a laptop and printers for providing hard copies of soil reports.
Matix Fertilisers and Chemicals Limited is one of India’s youngest and fastest-growing fertiliser companies holding approximately 20% market share of urea in Eastern India.
